The Africa Narrative – A Few More Pointers
Urbanization: At the moment, 40% of the continent’s population live in cities, and this is expected to rise to 50% by 2030, and by then, Africa’s top 18 cities will have a combined spending power of $1.3 trillion. There is no better time to demystify the myth of people living on trees, in huts and with lions.
Risk management & mitigation: The image of a war and famine stricken areas still linger, there is an emergence of a new economy that is not only friendly but also open for investment. There is a gradual acceptance of the continent as a less risky investment destination.
Beyond raw resources: The continent still has a huge resource base. While previous extraction only concentrated on raw form, there is a new dimension in value addition and better management of these resources.
